Since releasing nearly five years ago, Horizon has become one of the biggest PlayStation exclusive IPs. The upcoming Horizon Forbidden West made it an IP to watch, but Call of the Mountain further solidifies the franchise’s status even further. However, the latter changes up the traditional formula by telling a new story distanced from Aloy’s journey. This is great news for Horizon fans because Call of the Mountain may showcase other directions for the franchise once Aloy’s journey is concluded....

Another new aspect in Horizon Forbidden West is the addition of the Regional Control Center, or the Base, which is located in the Whitewash Mountains. Many games, especially open-world titles with vast areas to explore, make use of a hub location to serve as a safe place for players to return to after missions,. Much like the Tower in Destiny, or the Normandy in the Mass Effect trilogy, the Base in Horizon Forbidden West is a location that Aloy can return to again and again....

While Horizon Forbidden West is a darling on PlayStation consoles, many fans of the franchise can’t wait for the sequel to finally get its PC edition. Horizon Zero Dawn launched in February 2017, and PC players had to wait three and a half years to experience Aloy’s journey for themselves when Guerrilla Games released Zero Dawn for the PC in August 2020.
