In the exchange, McCaw was pretty open with fans, even going as far as revealing bits of information that the public wasn’t aware of. When asked about the biggest or coolest element that was ultimately cut from Horizon Zero Dawn, McCaw revealed that the team had to cut a quest that would have sent Aloy to the Oseram territory of the Claim. While he didn’t reveal any specifics on the question, he did go on to reveal that Aloy would have shaken things up in there.
Aloy voice actor Ashly Burch also joined Ben McCaw in the AMA, answering numerous questions regarding how she approached the character during the voice recording sessions, to how she approached some of the choices during the campaign. Other notable highlights from the session included questions regarding some of the other characters in the campaign, to which McCaw confirmed that the team is interested into at some point in the future.
For people obsessed with the lore in game, a number of questions were posed including how McCaw handled some of the side quest endings such as the one involving Samina Ebadji and even going as far as to confirm a popular and spoilery fan theory regarding Ted Faro. McCaw also gives fans a specific order in how to play the game including The Frozen Wilds, as the writing was designed to incorporate certain decisions and will likely change based on the order things are done.
Even though Guerrilla Games has since moved on to its next project, Horizon Zero Dawn is still a popular topic within the gaming community. Not only did the game snag multiple awards at this year’s DICE Awards, including Outstanding Achievement in Story, but the game is also featured in another smash hit, Monster Hunter World. Capcom worked with Sony to create a special crossover event, where players can participate in timed challenges to unlock special gear including an Aloy armor set and Palico gear designed to look like a robotic Watcher.
Horizon Zero Dawn is available now exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
