One of the main ways players earn Skill Points in Horizon Forbidden West is by gaining XP to increase Aloy’s level. XP is gained in many ways, including defeating machines/humans, completing side activities like errands, and following the main story missions. Whatever it is that players are doing, they are bound to uncover some extra XP doing it –players will constantly level up as they tick off all the icons on the world map. For players wondering what the max level is in Horizon Forbidden West, here’s what fans need to know.

Max Level in Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West’s max level is 50. Once players make it to the final level for Aloy, they will no longer gain any XP, whether from fighting machines to doing side missions. Of course, players can still clean up the map and partake in any activities, but they will only get Skill Points and items –the XP bar will not progress any further. However, since players don’t gain extra power from leveling up (only increased maximum health and skill points), they can still optimize their build to have Aloy as powerful as possible, even at the level cap.
It’s worth mentioning that the max level for Horizon Zero Dawn was also 50, but the level cap was increased to 60 with the release of The Frozen Wilds expansion, released in late 2017. There could be a chance that the level cap for Horizon Forbidden West gets a boost, but that depends if Guerrilla Games decides to release post-launch DLC. With many PlayStation exclusives receiving DLC these days, this game will likely join the club, too, especially since Horizon Forbidden West has received highly favorable reviews from critics.
Horizon Forbidden West is available on PS4 and PS5.
