RELATED: The Best & Worst Things About Horizon: Forbidden West

To complete the Long Coast Relic Ruins puzzle, players will need to find two crates and restore power to an old elevator. The latter is actually fairly straightforward, but tracking down the crates and getting them where they need to be is quite a bit trickier. This guide will explain how Horizon Forbidden West players should approach these tasks and the fastest method for completing them.

How to Restore Power to the Elevator

The first thing that players will need to do is restore power to the elevator, which actually ends up being a somewhat simple task. After locating the elevator itself, players should head up the nearby staircase and look for an energy cell in the wall to the northeast. As soon as they remove the cell it will begin to lose charge, but they’ll have more than enough time to get it back to the elevator control box. If not, they can simply take it back up the stairs, plug it back into the charger and try again.

How to Get the First Crate

With the elevator now working, players should climb to the top of the tall tower containing the ornament and look out to the east. They should be able to see a crate off in the distance and will need to glide down to it using the Shieldwing. After blowing up the Firegleam crystal on the nearby wall with the igniter, they’ll then be able to push the crate through the newly formed hole in the wall and down to the elevator on the first floor.

It’s at this point that players should push the crate into the elevator and take it up a floor. After removing the crate from the elevator, they should ride back down, then grapple back up to the crate and push it down into the shaft so that it falls onto the top of the elevator. With that all taken care of, players can head out to look for the second crate that they’re going to need.

How to Get the Second Crate

The area with the second crate can be reached by heading east from the spot where players found the first one. Those having trouble finding it can always return to the top of the tower and use Aloy’s Focus to scan the area and get a better understanding of where exactly the crate is. Once that’s been established, players should make their way there and look for a yellow rail near the wall on the left-hand side.

By using the rail and the subsequent yellow climbing pegs on the west-facing interior wall of the structure, players will be able to drop down into a room with a Firegleam crystal inside. After destroying it with the igniter, they’ll need to head through the newly-made hole in the wall and then turn around. They should be able to see a blue switch through a hole in the opposite wall and will need to use their Pullcaster to activate it.

Pulling the switch will cause a nearby light fixture to move along the railing above, but only for a few seconds. As quickly as they’re able, players should jump up and grapple onto the light fixture and then hit the Circle button to jump back onto the nearby ledge. From here, players can use the Pullcaster to drag the crate down and all the way back to the elevator.

How to Get the Ornament

With the second crate now inside the elevator and the first one on top of it, players should ride the elevator up and use the Pullcaster to open the access panel above them. They’ll then be able to climb onto the crate that’s inside the elevator to get through the hatch and use the one that’s on top of it to reach some yellow beams that will lead them to the top of the tower. They can then pick up the ornament to complete the Long Coast Relic Ruins puzzle.
